Who cares about Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor trash talking each other when you have LaVar Ball and Shaquille O’Neal?
Hours after the elder Ball said he and his 15-year-old son LaMelo “would kill” first-ballot Hall of Famer Shaq and his son Shareef, a five-star recruit and Arizona commit, in a game of two-on-two, Shaq mocked LaVar’s latest outrageous claim and pedestrian basketball skills in a video posted to Instagram Sunday evening, going as far as to say he’d superglue a blonde wig onto his head if he were to lose.
“If lavar ball beats me I’ll superglue this wig to my head forever. It’s only one BIG BALLER BRAND and that’s me THE SHAQ BRAND. Wake up bro. I made more free throws in a game then the Points you averaged mr 2.2 a game. Respect this first balloter #relax #justwatchyoursonplay #shhhhhh #youtoloud #youcanneverbeattheonealboyz.”
In typical Shaq fashion, he added to the absurdity of the situation by issuing his challenge to LaVar while lip synching Carrie Underwood’s 2012 song “Blown Away.”
The beef between the O’Neal and Ball families picked up steam this week after Shareef told TMZ he could take LaMelo if the two ever went up against one another.
Of course, this isn’t exactly a far-fetched statement as Shareef is 6-foot-8 and rated the No. 8 power forward in the Class of 2018, according to ESPN. LaMelo is just 6-foot-3.
Shaq has been critical of LaVar in the past, specifically calling him out in May after LaVar announced his oldest son Lonzo’s ZO2 sneakers would be priced at $ 495. LaVar then defended the price on Twitter, taunting those who said the expensive shoes were out of their price range.
“If you can’t afford the ZO2’S, you’re NOT a BIG BALLER!”
Shaq has made it a point to make his own line of sneakers affordable for all, selling them for as low as $ 15 at Walmart.
Even if Shaq and LaVar don’t meet on the court, here’s to hoping the Diesel continues to wear that wig.
