The Dalai Lama has launched his own iPhone app for devotees

You can now get the Dalai Lama in the App Store.

The Buddhist monk announced on Twitter that he is launching his own app that will allow users to stay up to date with official news, browse photos and watch videos of the 82-year-old’s events.

Event schedules, information about the Dalai Lama, and his teachings will also be available through the new app.

Technology is something the Dalai Lama has welcomed with open arms. He’s active on social media and has built up 16.6 million followers on Twitter.

However, he’s previously warned people not to let phones and computers dictate how you live.

“Without technology, humanity has no future, but we have to be careful that we don’t become so mechanized that we lose our human feelings,” he told AFP in 2014.

The new app is now available except it does not appear in China’s Apple App Store, so most Tibetans will not have access to it.
