Swift, 27, last released an album in 2014 when she put out the wildly popular “1989.” She released the first single from that album, “Shake It Off,” on Aug. 18 of that year, about two months before the entire album went on sale.
The singer went on a sprawling world tour the following year. She has not released any new music since last year, when she teamed up with Zayn Malik for the single “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” for the “Fifty Shades Darker” movie.
The Variety report follows up a report by Us Weekly — also citing multiple sources — from earlier in the week, that also stated Swift has new music coming this Friday.
