That came as a surprise.
Caitlyn Jenner attended a performance of the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles Saturday night. She helped organize the event with a donation, according to TheWrap.
But what she got was an earful from Wear Your Voice editor-in-chief Ashlee Marie Preston, who called out the transgender woman and television personality for her ongoing support of President Donald Trump.
“It’s really f—ed up that you are here,” Preston tells Jenner as the latter attempts to move in for a hug. “Some people may be afraid to confront you for being here, but I am not. You are directly responsible for what has happened with transgender soldiers and the military. I am not afraid to say it to you, I am not. I am not afraid.”
Taken aback, Jenner stands there awkwardly as Preston sounds off about Jenner’s apparent role in bringing about the trans military ban, at the behest of Trump (who promised Jenner in 2016 that she could use any bathroom she’d like in Trump Tower).
Jenner’s entourage and attendees attempted to mediate as Preston continued to harangue the former Olympian and reality TV star.
This included Preston’s co-chair, Dena Williams. “You are complicit!” Preston tells Williams. “Taking her money…makes you complicit.”
Eventually, Jenner briefly chimes in, saying, “You don’t know me.”
But that only served to further enrage Preston, who responded with, “Yes I do! We all do! You are a fraud!”
She continued to link Jenner to Trump and his policies.
Last week the president signed a directive banning transgender military recruits, after making the announcement some weeks earlier.
As she left the auditorium, Preston called Jenner completely “fraudulent.”
The Trans Chorus of Los Angeles is a group of the largest non-gender conforming people around the globe. They relay that message through song.
The theme at Saturday’s event was “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars,” according to TheWrap.
