Ron Howard says Han Solo movie is ‘coming along great’

Never fear: Star Wars is just fine.

Ron Howard did his best to reassure fans that the Han Solo spinoff movie is still on track and “coming along great” despite his abrupt takeover.

“It’s a fantastic script, a great cast and I am having a fantastic creative experience with it,” he told the Hollywood Reporter.

The standalone movie opens May 25, 2018.

Howard stepped in to direct the movie after Phil Lord and Chris Miller backed out in late June over “creative differences.”

“I’m beyond grateful to add my voice to the Star Wars Universe after being a fan since 5/25/77,” Howard said after the announcement.

“I hope to honor the great work already done & help deliver on the promise of a Han Solo film.”

The spinoff movie, starring Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Joonas Suotamo, opens May 25, 2018.
