Rescheduled Yankees game forces NYCFC to move Sept. 23 home game

NYCFC announced Tuesday that its home game against the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, Sept. 23 will be moved to East Hartford due to a rescheduled Yankees game.

The MLS club – which the Yankees own a piece of – have called Yankee Stadium home since debuting as an expansion club in 2015. This is the first time a scheduling conflict with the Yankees has forced NYCFC to find an alternative venue.

The Yankees announced in May that a rained out game against the Royals would be made up on Monday, Sept. 25.

The NYCFC-Dynamo game will be played at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field in East Hartford. Kick off will remain at 3 p.m., the MLS club announced.

“We have worked very closely with Houston and MLS to find an alternative venue prioritizing our supporters and sporting department,” NYCFC president Jon Patricof said.

Rentschler Field is a frequent stop for both the men’s and women’s national teams. The U.S. men beat Ghana 2-1 in front of more than 28,000 fans on July 1.

Ticket holders unable to make the trek to Hartford will be offered a refund or they can exchange their tickets for another regular season home game at the Stadium.
