Readers sound off on Easter, ATVs and the Yankees

Brewster, N.Y.: Your recent article about the invasive land destruction and noise pollution caused by all-terrain vehicles in the Adirondacks hit home. I live in Brewster, another publicly preserved natural area smack in the middle of this controversy. My wife and I have been battling this unnerving issue for the past five years, trying to protect the local environment while reclaiming the peace and tranquility of a quiet Sunday afternoon outside our farmhouse — adjacent to the reservoir. Instead, we endure the ruinous effects and abrasively loud roars of ATVs and dirt bikes. With no solution in sight, I have written local officials, including assemblymen, congressmen and senators who evidently are looking the other way and ignoring the disruption. Mario Mercurio
