The Brooklyn Nets made a splash in NBA free agency Tuesday night, signing restricted free agent Otto Porter to a four-year, $ 106 million max deal, according to multiple reports.
The story was originally reported by The Vertical.
The Washington Wizards have until Saturday to match the deal.
Porter, a 6-foot-8 forward, had a career year for the Wiz, averaging 13.4 points and, 6.4 rebounds. Porter was part of a potent quartet in Washington alongside John Wall, Bradley Beal and Markieff Morris that made it all the way to the Eastern Conference semis.
This is not the first time that GM Sean Marks has tried to put his mark on the team.
Last season, Marks signed Blazers guard Allen Crabbe (five years, $ 75 million) and Heat guard Tyler Johnson (five years, $ 50 million) to offer sheets, to only have their respective teams match both offers. Staff and wire
