Miley Cyrus came in like a wrecking ball at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards — and in a cheeky post to dad Billy Ray Cyrus, she promised she’s since cleaned up her act.
Cyrus — who is busy promoting her upcoming album “Younger Now” — is set to appear at the 2017 VMAs Sunday night, and assured her father that her performance will be devoid of any twerking.
“Sorry Dad… I’ll be good tonight I promise … @vmas,” she wrote on Twitter, alongside a photo of her getting down with “Blurred Lines” singer Robin Thicke.
Cyrus infamously donned a skin-tight, flesh-toned bodysuit, a pair of power buns and a foam finger at the ceremony four years ago, and joined Thicke on stage for a raucous, twerk-filled performance of the sexy song.
How Miley Cyrus soared, Robin Thicke fell after the VMAs
The shocking display marked Cyrus’ unofficial shedding of her Disney Channel skin, and sparked a new, decidedly more adult era for the artist formerly known as Hannah Montana.
Of the now-notorious routine, Cyrus later told the New York Times that Thicke was in on it from the very beginning.
“I didn’t really know (Robin) too much before, and I don’t really know him now,” she said in 2015. “It was funny, because I got so much of the heat for it, but that’s just being a woman. He acted like he didn’t know what was going to happen. You were in rehearsals! You knew exactly what was going to happen.”
“And he was actually the one that approved my outfit, so I thought that was very funny,” she added. “He wanted me as naked as possible, because that’s how his video was. It was very much a collaboration.”
