SEATTLE — The Mets are not just selling these days
Industry sources confirmed a report that New York is trading for Marlins right-handed reliever A.J. Ramos.
The Mets sent minor leaguers Merandy Gonzalez (No. 9 prospect) and Ricardo Cespedes (No. 22 prospect) to the Marlins.
Gonzalez was a South Atlantic League All-Star who had impressed some scouts at Class-A Columbia and St. Lucie this season. Cespedes is a 19-year old outfielder who was hitting .255 in Class-A this season.
Ramos, 30, has 92 saves and a 2.78 career ERA over six years in the big leagues with Miami.
This season, Ramos has 20 saves in 40 appearances. He is under team control through 2018.
