Mel B wants to protect kids from publicized domestic abuse case

Mel B is trying to put her family first in a messy domestic violence case against her estranged husband.

The former Spice Girl filed documents to request the court seal the details of her case in order to protect the couple’s 5-year-old daughter, Madison, and her other children, TMZ reports.

She claims the case needs to be closed as it continues to draw massive media attention and is harming her kids — pointing out that photographers and reporters follow her to drop off her daughter with Belafonte because he is alerting the media of the visitation schedule, according to TMZ.

“While (Stephen) may enjoy the media attention, the minor child of this marriage did not ask to be placed in the center of this mounting storm,” Mel B said in the documents.

The 42-year-old singer also declared that she does not want to testify about the abuse publicly because it would be “further abuse.”

A judge will make a decision next month.

Mel B, whose real name is Melanie Brown, was granted a temporary restraining order against Belafonte after she claimed he punched, choked, berated her and sexually exploited her during their decade-long relationship. She also claimed he had gotten their nanny pregnant.

Brown had filed for divorce in March, requesting joint physical and legal custody of their daughter. She later requested physical custody.
