Kid Rock is actually a contender in Michigan Senate race

Kid Rock is leading the polls all summer long.

The country rocker, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, might actually have a shot at a Michigan Senate seat if he decides to run as a new poll shows him in the lead in the GOP Primary, according to a new poll by the Trafalgar Group.

Kid Rock, 46, who has been an outspoken Republican for years, leads current Democratic Sen. Deborah Stabenow 49.62%to 46.1%, according to 1,708 likely voters who were surveyed.

“A general election with Kid Rock and Stabenow could be close and fun to watch,” Robert Cahaly, a senior strategist with the group said in a statement. “The debates would truly be ‘the greatest show on Earth’ and the uncensored version could be a pay-per-view blockbuster.”

On July 12, the “All Summer Long” singer put rumors to rest by confirming that he was in fact running for Senate and tweeted out a link to KidRockforSenate.com.

“One thing is for sure though …The democrats are ‘shattin’ in their pantaloons’ right now…and rightfully so!,” Richie said in a statement.

“We will be scheduling a press conference in the next 6 weeks or so to address this issue amongst others, and if I decide to throw my hat in the ring for US Senate, believe me… it’s game on mthrf—s.”
