John Cena cast in ‘Transformers’ spinoff ‘Bumblebee’

His name is John Cena — and he’s a big time movie star.

The Hall of Fame wrestler has been cast in “Bumblebee,” the upcoming movie in the “Transformers” franchise, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

There’s no word yet what role he’ll take on, but Cena joins a young cast including Hailee Steinfeld, Jorge Lendeborg, Jason Drucker, Abby Quinn, Rachel Crow, Ricardo Hoyos and Gracie Dzienny.

The movie takes place in 1987 in California after Steinfeld’s Charlie finds Bumblebee in a junkyard.

Michael Bay will produce the movie again, along with Lorenzo di Bonaventura.

Cena, while known for his prowess in the ring, has made the transition to acting over the last few years, including roles in “The Wall,” “Tour de Pharmacy” and “Trainwreck.”

“Bumblebee” is the first in what’s being called the Transformers Cinematic Universe.

The last movie in the series, “Transformers: The Last Knight,” only brought in $ 568.9 million worldwide though.

“Bumblebee” will open Dec. 21, 2018 against “Aquaman.”
