Gleyber Torres, Yankees’ top prospect, placed on disabled list

Top prospect Gleyber Torres, who has been surging at Triple-A Scranton, has been place on the 7-day minor-league disabled list.

He suffered a hyperextended left elbow while sliding headfirst into home plate during Saturday’s game and left in obvious pain. X-rays were negative.

Torres will undergo further evaluation after returning to Scranton on Monday.

Gleyber Torres came in hitting .360 at Triple-A Scranton in June.
