Comedian George Lopez thinks law enforcement is a joke.
“The Trump administration is deporting Latinos to make the streets safer…. You wanna make the streets safer deport the police,” Lopez, 56, posted on Instagram on Friday, July 7.
“This is not an indictment of all Law Enforcement, some still just beat you,” he added in a follow-up post. #gacho#georgelopezonhbo #TheWall ( @momorodriguez #gracias.”
The star of the eponymous sitcom then made his Instagram account private after a swift backlash from followers, some of whom suggested the anti-Trump/anti-cop comments were irresponsible while anna_calderon3 wrote, “Wrong!!! Mad respect for Law Enforcement!!!!!” and sweetpea6318 wrote, “Not a very smart comment from a celebrity. We should all be coming together.”
It’s not the first time the Mexican-American star has decried the current administration.
Last July, he predicted a Trump victory, quipping to TMZ that the real estate developer would win because “there’s enough racists in this country for him to get elected.”
At a comedy show in Phoenix later that month, he led a crowd to chant, “f–k that puto,” using the Spanish slang term for male prostitute.
After the election Lopez, 56, was asked if he would give President Trump a chance.
“I’ll give him a chance to suck my a–” he succinctly replied to a TMZ video crew.
In Febraury hundreds of illegal immigrants were arrested in raids that took place over several states.
One of Trump’s campaign promises was that Mexico pay for a wall to be built along the U.S.- Mexico border to deter illegal immigration.
Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto has said Mexico will not pay.
