“Game of Thrones” is going super-sized.
The hit HBO show, which returns on July 16, might be airing extra-long episodes to make up for a shortened final season.
At Con of Thrones, a “Game of Thrones” fan convention over the weekend, sound designer Paula Fairfield teased that the eighth season could feature movie-length episodes ranging close to 80 minutes long.
HBO had already revealed that the season 7 finale will be a whopping 81 minutes.

Several shows have opted for longer episodes and shorter seasons, including “Black Mirror” and “Sherlock.”
While previous seasons have all been 10 episodes, the seventh season will feature only seven episodes, while the eighth and final season will have just six episodes.
Episodes have typically run about 55 minutes each.
The final season of “Game of Thrones” has yet to start shooting.
