Fear trumps jobs: Republicans close with a message that America should worry about invaders

Just days before the midterm election, the U.S. economy, at least in macro numbers, looks healthy. Notwithstanding an unnerving drop in the stock market, the October jobs report released Friday was remarkable on nearly all levels: 250,000 new jobs, unemployment remaining steady at an already-unheard-of 3.7%. The labor participation rate grew, and wages were up by 2.9% compared to the same month last year. What’s not to like?
