Ex-Mexican President Vicente Fox is still dropping f-bombs about President Trump’s campaign promise to make America’s southern neighbor pay for a border wall.
Fox, in a Friday morning CNN appearance, reiterated his opposition to Trump’s attempts to make Mexico cover the multi-billion dollar cost of construction.
Asked if his successor Enrique Pena Nieto should have taken a more confrontational tone with Trump during a January phone call, Fox quite bluntly said yes.
“Well, you can use my words: We’ll never pay for that f—ing wall,” he declared on live television. “For that whole wall. That makes it more clear.
“Why should Mexico pay for the wall? What’s the reason?” asked Fox, who served as Mexican president from 2000-06. “We don’t need a wall. If Trump wants to build a wall, he has to go to Congress and he has to tell the truth to U.S. taxpayers that they’re going to pay for that.”
CNN host Alisyn Camerota apologized to the audience for the swearing. “Perhaps I should have taken that offer for the five-second delay,” she ad-libbed.
Fox also blasted Trump for asking Pena Nieto to refrain from public criticism of the White House over his campaign promise to make Mexico foot the bill for the wall.
“What Trump is trying to do is save face in front of his voters,” said Fox. “He’s not looking after America. It’s just him trying to save face.”
Fox’s four-letter dismissal of the Trump plan was hardly a surprise.
He had previously dropped the f-word on the President over the border wall during a Fox Business News interview, and tweeted out a similar sentiment to Trump on Thursday with the hashtag #F—ingWall.
