ESPN is making a bold move, Cotton.
The sports network is turning ESPN U, its station dedicated to college athletics, into ESPN 8 “The Ocho,” fittingly, for 24 hours on August 8.
“The Ocho,” inspired by the fake sports news network in 2004 comedy “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story,” will not feature Cotton McKnight and Pepper Brooks doing play-by-play, but it will air “offbeat, alternative events,” ESPN announced.
That includes cornhole, disc golf, trampoline dodgeball, roller derby and more.
ESPN responds to letter from Lamar Odom’s attorney
The fun decision from ESPN comes just a few months after the network laid off more than 100 high-profile employees.
So while nobody makes ESPN bleed its own blood, it has been bleeding money of late.
