Nearly eight years after actress Brittany Murphy’s death, her co-star Dakota Fanning hasn’t forgotten her.
Fanning, 24, shared a photo on Friday of herself and Murphy on the set of the 2003 film “Uptown Girls” in which they starred together.
“#fbf Brittany Murphy was a ray of sunshine that made every day of filming magical for me. #uptowngirls,” she wrote, along with the sun emoji.
The pair starred in the flick about a young woman (Murphy) working as a nanny for a young girl (Fanning) who is mature beyond her years. Fanning was just 9 when she worked on the film, while Murphy was 26.
Murphy died suddenly in her Hollywood Hills home on Dec. 20, 2009, after battling pneumonia. The combination of her illness with anemia and “multiple drug intoxication” was determined to be the cause of her death.

She was 32.
“She was really sick with pneumonia, very anemic, and she was taking medication,” Coroner Asst. Chief Ed Winter told PEOPLE at the time. “All that combined killed her.”
Murphy was best known for her roles in “Clueless” and “8 Mile.” She also starred alongside Angelina Jolie in the 1999 flick “Girl, Interrupted” and on the big screen with her then-boyfriend Ashton Kutcher in “Just Married.”
