Chris Paul hit with Carmelo trade questions at Rockets presser

Chris Paul just can’t get away from the ongoing Melo drama.

Paul joined Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni and GM Daryl Morey on Friday for his first press conference with his new team and was quickly asked about his buddy Carmelo Anthony.

The Rockets’ new point guard was asked if he had the scoop on the potential trade that would bring the Knicks star to the heavyweight Western Conference.

“One step at a time boss,” Paul said. “I’m just trying to get through this press conference.”

Knicks smart to refuse Ryan Anderson in potential Carmelo deal

The nine-time All-Star, who joined forces with fellow star James Harden in Houston on a one-year, $ 25 million deal in an attempt to win an NBA title, has a close friendship with Anthony.

Paul also didn’t bring up overpriced forward Ryan Anderson, who is rumored to be on the way out of Houston as part of a multi-team trade involving the Knicks veteran.

The sticking point is the three years and $ 60 million that Anderson is still owed. The Knicks, looking to clear cap space and get younger, have no interest in taking on Anderson’s salary. Plus he plays the same position as Kristaps Porzingis. As a result, the two sides are trying to hammer out a four-team trade, which the News reported this week was ‘on the two-yard line.’
