Belgian pizzeria explodes, leaving several people injured

A pizzeria in Belgium’s most densely populated city exploded on Monday night, reportedly leaving several people injured.

The pizzeria, located near Antwerp’s busy Paardenmarkt square, collapsed after it exploded around 10 p.m. local time, according to reports.

Antwerpen police quickly tweeted that the explosion was “not terror” related. Cops also said that another three nearby buildings were badly damaged in the blast.

A cause for the explosion was not immediately known.

Belgium has been on high alert since a wave of deadly terror attacks across Europe in 2016.
