Astros' Alex Bregamn deletes Twitter after crude remark to fan

Be careful who you interact with on Twitter, that goes double if you’re a professional athlete.

Astros rookie Alex Bregman found that out the hard way on Wednesday.

Bregman deleted his Twitter account after a fan aired out the DMs he exchanged with the third baseman.

The fan was upset that Bregman has underperformed this season, hitting .256 with eight home runs, 27 RBI and 40 runs scored, and felt that the Astros should have traded Bregman last summer in exchange for then-White Sox ace Chris Sale.

Bregman shot the fan, @AllenH83, a direct message on Twitter and things escalated from there.

“Are you really that bothered by opinion you direct message fans..pretty petty,” @AllenH83 asked after the conversation began.

“We’ll see see at the end of the year…Sweet screenshot clown … I forgot I shouldnt give flees on the nutsack of society the time of day. We maybe should trade you but frat boys don’t get traded,” Bregman messaged back.

“I’m the clown yet you’re a professional athlete sending DMs to fans because you don’t like their opinion?” @AllenH83 fired back.

“Just keep my name out of your mouth..and just watch the game…” wrote Bregman.

@AllenH83 posted the screenshot of the conversation and Bregman’s Twitter account quickly vanished.

Let this be a lesson for athletes, or anyone, really, to be careful what you say on social media.
