Haley Reinhart, who competed in the 10th season of “American Idol,” was arrested early Saturday morning just outside of Chicago.
The 26-year-old singer was charged with battery after allegedly punching a bouncer in Palatine, Ill., according to police reports acquired by People.
Reinhart reportedly hit the bar employee after security at the Lamplighter Inn asked the group to leave after knocking over a table.
Her lawyer said in a statement to the Daily News that the bouncer assaulted Reinhart and her friend.

“Without provocation, Haley Reinhart was assaulted by bouncers at the Lamplighter Inn. After forcefully removing Ms. Reinhart, they violently beat her friend, who sustained multiple injuries,” Dina LaPolt said.
“We believe that she will be exonerated of all charges once the investigation is completed. We plan on taking legal action against all those who were involved in this unfortunate incident.”
The singer placed third on the 10th season of “American Idol” behind winner Scotty McCreery and runner-up Lauren Alaina.
She released two albums after the competition: the 2012 “Listen Up!” and the 2016 “Better.”
Her third album, a collection of ‘60s covers called “What’s That Sound,” is due out Sept. 22.
Reinhart is due in court Aug. 2.
