Blac Chyna will head to court today to request a restraining order against the reality star Rob Kardashian — who not only repeatedly published naked photos of Chyna in anger for her alleged cheating, but also may have been violent towards her.
But how did the two reality TV stalwarts get to this point? Let’s start with the obvious first question.
So, why is this in court at all?
Chyna is seeking a restraining order again Kardashian, alleging in court papers that he was violent towards her last spring. But the tension between the former lovebirds didn’t blow open until Kardashian went crazy online last week.
Went crazy? Rob Kardashian?
Yes. Kardashian sparked an online firestorm Wednesday when he posted the three nude photos of Chyna and accused her of cheating on him.
During the rant, Kardashian claimed he’d spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on jewelry and surgeries for Chyna, while accusing her of consuming drugs and alcohol under the same roof as their infant daughter, Dream.
What’s the big deal about posting nude photos online?
Well, first of all, California outlawed revenge porn in 2013, defining it any non-consensual release of an image of an “intimate body part of another identifiable person, or an image of that person engaged in sexual intercourse, sodomy, oral copulation or masturbation” that is done specifically to inflict emotional distress.
Chyna’s high-powered LA lawyer Lisa Bloom told the Daily News she thinks Kardashian should be sent away for six months!
“I’m very proud to represent her, and we are ready to fight for her rights in court to protect her as a woman and as a mother against Rob Kardashian’s vicious cyberbullying of her and his acts of revenge porn,” Bloom told the News late last week.
Who is Lisa Bloom, anyway?
She’s a high-end attorney who represented actress Mischa Barton earlier this year in a so-called revenge porn case.
She ended up winning the case, with a judge blocking Barton’s ex from releasing nude photos and video of the actress last month.
Bloom also represented Kathy Griffin after she posed for a photo holding a bloodied head of President Trump.
I’m shocked by all this. I mean, Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna seemed so perfect together. Was I wrong?
Maybe you were just a hopeless romantic. The couple sparked a whirlwind relationship in January 2016 and were engaged three months later. They announced they were expecting a child in May, and welcomed their daughter Dream in November.
But by December, there was trouble in paradise. In a series of Snapchat videos, Kardashian bemoaned that Chyna had left him and taken Dream with her right before the holidays.
Kardashian even posted an image of Chyna as the “Grinch” who stole his Christmas because she allegedly denied him access to Dream.
By April, E! News reported that the wedding was off, and that Chyna had returned her engagement ring.
And where is Dream in all this?
Kardashian did share a Snapchat photo of the 9-month-old on Wednesday nightafter the rant, suggesting he was with her. But over the weekend, photos emerged of Chyna with Dream.
How come no one saw this battle coming?
Um, everyone did. Kardashian’s family didn’t approve of the relationship at first, according to multiple reports at the time. Chyna was previously engaged to — and has a son with — the rapper Tyga, who was dating Kardashian clan member and Rob’s half-sister Kylie Jenner back then.
A source told People that Jenner was “livid” and felt “super betrayed” by Kardashian for sparking a romance with Chyna.
Did the Kardashians and Chyna ever fight before?
Yes! Earlier this year, the Kardashian sisters — Kim, Kourtney and Khloe — won a court battle against Chyna to block her from own the rights to the name Angela Renee Kardashian (Chyna’s real name is Angela Renee White).
So what are the Kardashians saying now?
Absolutely nothing. None of the famous family members has commented publicly on Kardashian’s online tirade, preferring instead to continue to post mundane things on social media as if nothing happened.
A rep for Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner said neither is planning a statement, while a rep for Khloe Kardashian and Kylie Jenner had no comment.
A spokeswoman for Kourtney Kardashian and Rob’s mom, Kris Jenner, didn’t respond to a request for comment.
